Prof. Rose Jepchumba Kosgei

Prof. Rose Jepchumba Kosgei is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Gynecologic Oncologist, and Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nairobi, where she coordinates the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship program. She brings over two decades of experience spanning clinical care, academia, health systems research, and policy development. Her work focuses on the use of routinely collected data to inform evidence-based decision-making and strengthening health systems. She has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and technical papers that inform national policy, clinical guidelines, and health systems practice.

Prof. Kosgei has contributed extensively to the development of national standards, guidelines, and strategic frameworks for the Ministry of Health and multilateral partners. In addition to her academic and public sector roles, she brings a private sector perspective through board-level governance and technical engagements supporting private and non-state health providers in service delivery, quality improvement, and clinical standardization.

She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Moi University, a Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a PhD in Health Sciences from Ghent University. Internationally, she served as an Executive Board Member of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) from 2015 to 2021, representing the Africa and Eastern Mediterranean region.
