• Local and East African Trained Doctors:

The Medical and Dental graduands ballot for the available slots in the approved internship centres.

• Foreign Trained Doctors:

The Medical and Dental graduands sit for an Internship Qualifying Exam and upon passing they participate in balloting available slots in the approved internship centres.

The Medical and Dental graduands are taken through the Internship process, the structure and functions of the Council and they receive Hippocratic Oath.

Internship placement Committee approves the placement list from various Medical and Dental Schools.

• Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK)

Interns willing to undertake their Internship Program in CHAK affiliated facilities apply through their offices and are invited for an interview and upon success they are listed in one of the available Internship Centre and a list is submitted to the Council for consideration.

• Defence Forces Memorial Hospital

Interns willing to undertake their Internship Program in Defence Forces Memorial Hospital should apply through Ministry of Defence where they are vetted and successful list is submitted to the Council for consideration.

• Private Hospitals

Interns willing to undertake their Internship Program in private hospitals should apply to the approved facilities and are invited for an interview and upon success they are issued with offer letter which should be presented to the Council for issuance of Internship Licence.

Upon approval, the placement list is submitted to Ministry of Health for processing of Posting Order. No fee is payable at this stage.

After receiving the posting order and offer letter from the Ministry of Health, the Intern is required to apply for an Internship License at the Council and download a Logbook from the website before proceeding to their respective Internship Centre. A Licence application fee of Kshs. 5,000 only is paid to the Council’s KCB Bank Account Number 1103158643 Milimani Branch or Mpesa Paybill Number 992836 upon presentation of duly filled in Application form for Internship Licence available on the link below.

If the Intern is not satisfied with the centre they balloted, he/she can apply for variation (if he/she hasn’t reported) or transfer if the intern has already reported.  No fee is payable at this stage.

To apply for a change of the internship training centre, interns should duly fill the Change of Internship Form (to be downloaded from the link below) and attach supporting documents where applicable.
