The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council is a statutory authority established under Cap 253 Laws of Kenya to regulate the training, practice and licensing of medicine, dentistry and healthcare institutions that include private & mission hospitals, medical, dental centers & clinics, nursing and maternity homes and standalone funeral homes, in the country.

I am privileged to be a key player in steering the Council towards ensuring the provision of quality healthcare to the Kenyan people.

As an organization we rely on our Strategic Plan and Service Charter to drive our vision, mission and mandate, thereby ensuring all Kenyans access quality healthcare.

Over the years, the Council has been working tirelessly to ensure all our stakeholders get the services they need at the touch of a button. We have rolled out a New Business Model in a deliberate effort to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Simon Kiraithe is responsible for managing the Council’s strategic communications with a view to enhancing its visibility.

Mr. Kiraithe develops, reviews and implements a communication strategy to support the Council’s objectives.

Mr. John Mburu is responsible for aligning the human resource and administration strategies to the organization overall strategy. The Department is responsible for formulating and developing comprehensive human resources management and administration policies and ensuring implementation.

Dr. Margaret Mbugua is mandated to establish and maintain uniform norms and standards on the learning of medicine, dentistry; to prescribe the minimum educational entry requirements for persons wishing to be trained as medical, dental and community oral health practitioners, and to determine and set a framework for professional practice of medical, dental and community oral health practitioners in Kenya.
